DAMN GOOD DOORMATS is a Queer, Woman & Trans owned business.

Back in the summer of 2008, Spoon met Lee. Even though she (Spoon) had never seriously dated a woman (Lee at that time was female), they fell madly in love. Fast forward one year & they were married, bought a house & created Damn Good Doormats.

They went to get a doormat for their new home and saw that nothing at the big box stores fit their personalities. Undaunted, Spoon hand-painted her first doormat and an industry was born! Starting out offering fun and functional doormats on Etsy, we were the ONLY shop offering floor mats of any kind. We had to create the demand and spread the word on how fun a unique door mat is to have at your home's entryway. 15 years on, there are literally thousands of shops selling creative doormats. How many people can claim to have spawned an entire industry????

A few years later, Lee came to Spoon with the desire to transition into appearing outwardly male as he felt inside. Here we are many years on and his transition is complete, beard and all. Their marriage and Damn Good Doormats continue to thrive. It's time to celebrate being alive!
